Irrfan Khan’s death in April this year was a huge loss for the film industry. The stellar actor, known not just in India, but also renowned internationally for his roles in films such as Slumdog Millionaire, Life Of Pi, Jurassic World, died at the age of 53 after a two-year long battle with neuroendocrine tumour. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science posted a video celebrating hope amid the pandemic, and it also features Irrfan Khan’s scene from Life Of Pi, at the end, leaving fans emotional.
The video shared by The Academy on their social media is a compilation of several iconic moments and moving inspiring dialogues from popular films such as Her, The Shawshank Redemption, Captain Marvel, The Martian, Parasite, Interstellar, Black Panther, among others. The video as a whole is quite inspiring, but what makes it even better is Irrfan Khan’s appearance in the end and his smiling face as he is asked in the film Life Of Pi if his story had a happy ending. Irrfan simply says, “Well that’s up to you.” Sharing the video, The Academy wrote, “A celebration of hope—through the lens of movies we love.”
The video is winning the Internet and fans got emotional watching Irrfan Khan. Nimrat Kaur wrote, “A heavy heart smiles with the last frame. After Irrfan Khan’s death in April, The Academy had paid a tribute to the actor by writing, “A mainstay of Bollywood cinema and incredible talent in films like “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Life of Pi” and “The Namesake,” Irrfan Khan left his imprint on global cinema.
